Gameplay Overview
Minesweeper is a classic logic-based game where players uncover cells on a grid, aiming to avoid hidden mines. The objective is to reveal all non-mine cells without detonating any mines.
Game Board and Cells
Grid Layout: The game board consists of a grid of covered cells, some of which conceal mines.
Cell values:
- Numbered Cells: Revealing a cell without a mine displays a number indicating how many mines are adjacent to that cell, including diagonals.
- Blank Cells: If a revealed cell has no adjacent mines, it appears blank, and all its neighboring cells are automatically uncovered.
Revealing and Marking Cells
Revealing Cells:
- Clicking on a cell uncovers its content.
- If the cell is empty or numbered, it provides clues to the locations of nearby mines.
- If the cell contains a mine, the game ends.
Marking Suspected Mines:
- Players can right-click (or use the equivalent action) to place a flag on cells they suspect contain mines, preventing accidental clicks.
- Right-clicking a flagged cell again may place a question mark, indicating uncertainty.
- Right-clicking once more removes the question mark, returning the cell to its original state.
Winning the game
To win Minesweeper, players must successfully reveal all non-mine cells. Flagging all mines is not a requirement for victory but serves as a strategic aid.
